Enter the Millerods idler 802OHSP, combining the correct blank power, action, length and handle style all in the one rod design for the serious boating trout angler!
The blank is light-powered with a sensitive tip that displays the rod is loaded to the downrigger - or that the lure’s working if flatlining in which case the extra length gives a better spread of distance between lures.
The medium action is softer through the middle section which is gentler on hook holds, something that’s regularly a problem with hooked trout. There is reserve power in the lower 1/3 should it be needed.
Blank construction is the new ‘Armour 40-5’. This all new blank technology is the ultimate in blank reinforcement – the optimal solution to create a more robust blank while maintaining the Millerods benchmarks of lightweight sensitivity!
The handle is also designed for adjustable rod holder use in mind, with the correct grip diameter to be locked down and long enough for rod holders, but not so long that the butt grip gets in the way when in the hand or a holder. The rear grip is hard wearing EVA in Millerods blue Camoufish colour. This is finished with the Millerods non-skid butt cap, which stops the rod from slipping around on the boat deck.
The Drifter reel seat is comfortable in the palm with a ‘soft touch’ barrel and the carbon tube foregrip/locking hood helps transfer the feel of the lure when the rod is hand-held.
Importantly, this rod has a spiral-wrap guide train design. This takes the line from above the rod to below the rod and offers advantages over regular overhead designs. There is no tendency at all for the rod to twist when loaded and trolling, no line touching the blank. The Kigan guides with extra-hard Zirconia ceramics are very light on line wear, and the generous number of 12 guides + tip-top guarantees super-smooth transition from above the rod to below the rod, and easy rod-loading when trolling and fish fighting!
As always, the exclusive custom Millerods anti-tangle hook keeper is included for easy stowing of the lure when not in use.
